    The Sweepers

    Read the Offoffoff review

Set in Boston at the climax of World War II, THE SWEEPERS plunges into the humorous and often touching world of three women, their families and the Italian-American traditions that keep them together. Bella, Dotty and Mary have been neighbors and friends since childhood. Although they tell each other — and sometimes the entire neighborhood — everything, each woman has a secret related to their war experience which threatens to tear apart the close ties that they have built over many years. To top it off, Bella's son, who avoided the war, is getting married to a girl not from "the neighborhood" — and they are talking about moving out. This event provides a welcome distraction from the more serious matters that the women are hiding. THE SWEEPERS will be directed by Urban Stages' Artistic Director Frances Hill.
