    Dissonant Doubles

    A roster of shorts examining the female side of human relationships. Featuring new works by playwrights such as MARIO FRATTI (Broadways "Nine") and MILAN STITT (Broadways "The Runner Stumbles"). The plays include: SINCERITY, written and directed by Mario Fratti — This drama by the author of Broadways "Nine" concerns a woman and a man on a blind date. Although at first glance not a good match (the woman is aggressive while the man is shy), the two nonetheless begin to plainly and honestly negotiate the tricky questions of their relationship and what it is to be. PLACES WEVE LIVED by Milan Stitt, directed by Richard Harden — On the anniversary of a marriage long since ended, a wistful suburbanite finds herself standing in front of the apartment she once shared with her ex-husband, a struggling writer. Sparks fly when he unexpectedly shows up and the two open old wounds to finally bring some closure to their relationship. CHAMPAGNE AND CAVIAR, written and directed by Frances Galton — Overworked Beryl lives in a modest Brooklyn apartment and takes care of her elderly mother, who is showing the beginning sides of dementia. Beryls successful plastic surgeon brother David, fresh from a vacation in France, stops by to see the two and conflict erupts when Beryl asks David for some help. MIMI & ME by Kitty Dubin, directed by Andrea Andresakis — A perky college student volunteers in a nursing home and clashes with Mimi Mandelbaum, a cantankerous 90 year old who just wants to be left alone to die. In spite of Mimis nature, the two begin share some very personal details about their lives and discover they have a lot more in common than they had thought. STAR COLLECTOR by Sally Carpenter, directed by Jeff Davolt — Melissa, a fanatical middle aged woman, sneaks into a hotel room to meet her favorite singer. Once a teen idol and adored by millions, Bobby Beat is now an aging washed-up has-been. Problems arise when Bobby discovers Melissa in his room.
