    Cracked

It's Thanksgiving, and time once again for American sons and daughters to make the usual pilgrimage home to visit the family. For some, it's pleasant. For others, it's complicated. For Jack Bensen, it's simply a nightmare. On November 28th, Jack gets paroled on drug charges into the custody of his family. The prodigal son arrives home, climbs the familiar fire escape, and takes a fateful step in to a house that has been waiting for him to come home. And it has some things to tell him. Cracked is a play about family, about expectations, and about a wayward son's search for redemption. Vining transports our favorite dysfunctional family from Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie into today's Lower East Side, setting the brooding and restless son (Jack, played by Andrew Hurley), years after he abandoned his family, sifting through the funeral ashes of his past.
