Between A and B: Scenes from our Apartment

Welcome to 14th Street, between A and B in Manhattan's East Village. "Between A and B: Scenes from our Apartment" is a love story about relationships, as experienced by a young married couple from the Midwest trying to make it in NYC. Its subject matter, themes and sense of humor are universal, exploring how insecurities, longing, desire, resentment and unconditional love all play a part in developing and sustaining a relationship. Since arriving here from Chicago, Jill and Dan Fleming have lived in an East Village 400 square foot, rent-controlled, six-floor walk-up. In these close quarters, the newlyweds went from tolerating to resenting to embracing each other's quirks — finally realizing there's no marital conflict that can't be diffused by bursting into song; often! (and if that doesn't work, break the tension with The Chicken Dance). BETWEEN A AND B: SCENES FROM OUR APARTMENT invites you into the lives of Jill and Dan — but just the interesting, funny and sexy parts. This collection of short scenes and musical interludes takes place on a set that duplicates the exact dimensions of the cramped quarters Jill and Dan must return home to after leaving the bright lights of the stage. The show is performed in a style influenced by their shared experience as Chicago-based improv, stand-up and sketch comedians (Jill worked with THE SECOND CITY; Dan was a founding member of the acclaimed NYC-based sketch troupe THE BERT FERSHNERS). Veteran performers of stand-up, sketch & improv, Jill & Dan bring all of these comedic genres to a show about LIFE, LOVE and the challenges of LIVING TOGETHER in a 400 square foot East Village apartment where one is the loneliest number — -and two is a crowd.
