That Damn Dykstra (The Boxed Set)

    Read the Offoffoff review

A blistering collection of short plays and monologues from the twisted comedic mind of Brian Dykstra. The characters in Dykstra's world are obsessive, intelligent, passionate and hilarious as they try to dismantle the internal and external constraints they face every day while battling the larger issues of political dualities, economic banalities and ecological realities that border on the insane. All the while they are forced to walk a tightrope of deeper personal issues like monogamy and self-respect. This collection is rocket-fueled entertainment that asks questions without obvious answers. Although we are able to recognize and laugh at ourselves, Dykstra does not provide easy escape routes. It's laughing and thinking at the same time (which is not exactly multi-tasking). Brian Dykstra is author of SexReligionPoliticsIsolationLove&Rage, Straight Up/Water Back, Forsaking All Others and STRANGERHORSE. Directed by Margarett Perry, Dykstra's collection promises to deliver mega-laughs while skewering everyone from Texas Execs to Tom Cruise.
