    Uncle Jimmy's Dirty Basement

    Read the Offoffoff review

a surreal, genre-bending rock musical set in a suburban basement. It introduces you to a plethora of most unusual characters including exhibitionistic Uncle Jimmy and his devoted side-kick Chuck Bob, a demented Pirhana Man, Jimmys renegade Grandpa who lives in the furnace room, and a motley array of boys in the band. Part rock opera, part psychedelic yard sale, this blend of live performers and otherworldly puppets takes audiences on a trippy joyride through the underbelly of the American psyche. Coocoohandler is known for combining an eclectic blend of jazz, pop, and rock music with lush visuals in magically absurd environments. This self described seven member post-Freudian jazz-punk cabaret features drums, guitar, keyboards, trumpet, sax, bass, and vocals. Their site-specific performances, ranging in scale from epic to intimate, have been seen on MTV and City Arts on PBS; at music venues including Fez, The Knitting Factory, Webster Hall, and CBGBs; and at theaters including The Kitchen, HERE and P.S. 122 Founded in 1995, The Elementals is a Bunraku-inspired puppet theater collective that has created its own unique visual edge coupled with a comically warped presentational style. The Twin Cities Reader best described the company as alternately raunchy, serious, humorous and magical . . . designed to challenge your preconceptions about the nature and possibilities of puppet theater. The Elementals have appeared at venues including P.S. 122, DTW, Carolines, Walker Arts Center, the Byham Theater in Pittsburgh, Out North in Anchorage and the Southern Theater in Minneapolis.
