The Set Up, the Stakeout and the Fifty-Pound Prosciutto
    Ham, bam, thank you ma'am

"The Set Up, the Stakeout and the Fifty-Pound Prosciutto" is a fun comic caper about three twenty-something girlfriends, one of whom is so desperate to lose her virginity that she'll even do it with a lying accountant.

This play is a frenetic, wacky peek into the world of three girlfriends in the suburbs. There's Jane, who's about to turn 25 and is miserable that she's still a virgin, Rosellen who acts a sort of a big sister and Jackie who's got a thing for guys who drive hatchbacks.

Jane has started dating Tim, an accountant, and announces to the girls that he's going to be the one she has her first experience with. Rosellen and Jackie think he has a girl on the side and stake him out. Throw in a couple of goofy mafia guys — including Rosellen's hyper-emotional fiance who at one point handcuffs her ankle to his wrist — and it's hijinks galore.

Seeming at times like an updated "Laverne and Shirley" episode or a sequel to "Married To The Mob," this play is an highly entertaining fricasse of comedy flecked with girl talk and punctuated by sing-along-in-the-car songs that are played during scene changes. It seems fitting that one of the play's writers, Shannon Mattaro, works for MTV, since the show has a pace and youthful pop cultural sheen that would make it suitable programming for that network.
