The Pumpkin Pie Show's "Rise Perverts Rise" features four absorbing horror stories spookily recounted by four actors and an eerie band.

There's no campfire at The Pumpkin Pie Show's "Rise Perverts Rise," but there are enough spooky campfire stories to make you start looking around for some marshmallows and a sharp stick.
The Pumpkin Pie Show, from what I can tell, is not an acting company as much as an intersection where actors, writers and musicians meet to create works that combine all three into a single whole. "Rise Perverts Rise" features four actors telling four horror stories in various combinations, and the stories are told in concert with the eerie live music of One Ring Zero, a duo whose eclectic talents include the theremin.

The middle two stories are especially striking. "Poor Man's Mermaid" is a murky, dreamlike ghost story told in the voice of a body that's been lodged under a pier for years when his true love finally washes up. And "The Wheels on the Bus Go" is a strange and meaningful story of pain and passion between two kids who always sit together on the back of the school bus.
The first and last stories are just plain old-fashioned horror tales. "It Goes Rickety" is the story of things gone horribly awry at the carnival, and "As Worms Hover Over Hades" is a funny gross-out story in rhyming verse about a deranged coal miner found burrowing through the boneyard. If you're the type that scares easily, you're going to want that sharp stick just for protection after this one.
