The Tender Idols from Atlanta derives its modern sound from the annals of British rock, and it doesn't hurt that lead singer Ian Webber comes from the land of Bowie and Bolan.
They've finessed a grasp on rock that sounds timeless and undeniably modern at the
same time. Their songs intermingle wistfulness and fortitude with flurries
of emotion that make for a heady blend, tinged with romantic fervor and
sprinkled with backward glances and heartfelt promise. They've harnessed a
vastness and wound structural grandeur around their collective little
fingers.

Lead singer/guitarist Ian Webber's a transplanted Englishman and
he wields the kind of flair guys from his homeland (e.g. Bowie, Marc Bolan,
Thom Yorke) have come to be known for. It'll be quite a treat to see a group
with such an arena-ready sound play a venue like this (some may refer to the
Continental as intimate, others may just call it dumpy).
The Tender Idols'
third CD, "Distressor" will be released April 10th and it packs a
velvet -gloved wallop. Produced by Gavin MacKillop (who's worked with
The Goo Goo Dolls, Toad The Wet Sprocket and The Church), it has a
far-reaching sonic scope and makes you really want to know what records
are in the these guys' collections. Maybe if if you go to this show and
ask nicely they'll clue you in.
