Iffy hollers
Iffy's music is the soundtrack to the perfect party, combining intelligence, funkiness and a little quirkiness too.
By ROBIN EISGRAU Offoffoff.com
If you're lucky, there'll be maybe two or three times in your life when
you'll be in attendance at a quintessential party.
Everyone at the event (usually held in a cozy living space, sometimes
in a bar) will be friendly
and interesting, there'l be plenty of tasty food and drink, and most
importantly there'll be irresistible music.

| | The tunes on Iffy's "Biota Bondo"
sound like what should be spilling out of the speakers at such a bash.
Funky and groove laden with just enough chill factor to make it a fine
kickback soundtrack and enough energy to make you shake something, "Biota Bondo"
makes you want to perhaps throw a quintessential party yourself. If
circumstances prevent you from playing host, perhaps you'll want to gather
some friends and have your bash on Oct. 24 at the Mercury Lounge or on
Oct. 25 at Maxwell's as Iffy gets their groove on in person.
Hailing from Minneapolis, Iffy consists of members of several renowned
bands: Kraig Johnson, Tom Merkle and Kirk Johnson were in Run Westy Run and
Kraig Johnson is currently a member of the Jayhawks and Golden Smog. The
group is rounded out by Dave Pederson, who handles guitar, keyboards and
programming, drummer Martin Dosh, and percussionist Esther Godinez (who tours
with Prince).
Quirky without souding dumb, Iffy are like the brainy kids in
your class who also happen to have loopy senses of humor. Catching these
wise guys live sounds like a reason to celebrate.
