Subject: REALISE THE REALITY
Date: Feb 1, 2006
I too, as many have posted here, were fooled into believing that this movie was real, throughout it all i thought it was genuine hunt for Bin Laden. That was until i saw the extras on the Dvd, which include them in Afghanistan planning the camera angle and "Wali" & "Lars" talking about shooting on location.
However, although it was fiction, people need to overcome their extreme need to criticise this movie on the basis that it was fiction or that it was filmed basically to make money "out of as true tragedy", as someone posted earlier. As the previous poster said, many films have been made about significant evens in history, the holocaust, WORLD WAR 2, the great war, the vietnam war, and many other movies based o truelife murder. Not to forget the recent Steven Spielberg film, Munich, based on the killing of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympics games.
Furthermore, people need to realise that the people who made this film didnt just do it in the spur of the moment, they obviously thought it through. The scenes and situations we see in the film are actually based on reality. Although i havent been to Afghanistan, i asure you it is everything in the movie, and definitly more.
The film provokes thoughts to enter the mind, as it did with me, which resonate for quite a while. As we see him go on this journey we are sure he has a true motive to go to a very dangerous country and risk his life, as we see him testing the will of others around him. We obviously find out at the end, but not before we have already witnessed this man fight for all that he has left.
For me i realised this is as close to reality you will ever see in a movie, the situations are definitly situations that arise in war-torn countries. Countries where precious lives can be taken and destroyed in a matter of seconds. Which made me realise that if we do have demons in our head to face, is the best way to fight them, or to simply accept that they are there and we cannot change them? The best way is to just move on...
