Looking at reviews compiled at rottentomatoes.com, I see good reviews for the right reasons and bad reviews for the wrong reasons.
This film is a "chase" movie from the start. A killer shows up and the lone survivor gets a workout while running away. "Plot holes" be damned, there is tension in this film. If you have ever dreamed about being chased until you get to your apartment/house's door only to worry about fumbling for your keys and LIKED the dream, then give this film a chance.
It combines the "killer truck" on the road scenario of Spielberg's early tv movie "Duel" (which "Jeepers Creepers" ripped off/homage'd) and "Halloween" (only there is always a raw quality to the film that is unsettling...meaning it isn't a SAFE movie i.e. anything can happen) and a little "Run Lola Run".
I prefer subtitles with original dialogue and the non-US (where I am) location and flavor adds to the tension.
Trust me. I can dissect plot holes with the best of them. I guess I wasn't blinded by them because the rest of the story keeps moving at such a rapid pace that I didn't care. Even at the end. I enjoyed this one. If I want a "thinking man's" suspense/horror flick I'll rent "Silence of the Lambs".
This is a roller coaster for the sake of having a good time. Put down the Great Books volume your reading or the doctorate exam your studying for. Turn out the lights and enjoy. This is so much better than say a HUGE disappointment like the over-hyped "Red Eye".
I guess this might not be for everyone but then again I get the feeling that some "reviewers" are really just opinionated critics. That or they just don't want any of us to see anything on the big or little screen at all.
