Brown Bunny - Viewers patience & effort required
It's obvious why 'mr average' does not approve of this movie. The general film goer wants to be entertained by a movie which does the thinking for them - so as to then sit brain dead.
To enjoy this, one requires patience, & the ability to tap into the psyche of the leading character (by pondering his behaviour throughout).. so as to get maximum impact from the final twist.
The idea of the movie is to slow you right down & tune you down to the pace of the movie.
For myself & many others, this worked perfectly to derive maximum shock & surprise at the end.. justifying the entire apparent directionless plot preceding it.
So, if you're reading this Vincent (Gallo).. take the criticisms of the braindead filmgoers as the ultimate compliment.. as the connoisseurs will appreciate the effort.
Remmeber.. watching a film itself requires some skill.. & such people are slowly dying out.
So Well Done Vincent. 9/10 for Brown Bunny!
