Reader comments on The Station Agent

Subject: Station Agent in Alaska & Oregon

The only thing I don't recall about this movie is how I came to watch it the first time.

It taking place in New Jersey was a big plus. The actors and actresses involved not being "BIG Names" kept this gem of a story from being railroaded into being a certain peson or two's movie.

Like the film As Good As It Gets the film Stationagent is a story of a few people and how they happen to interact with aquaintinces as well as the annonymous masses. Unlike As Good As It Gets the film Station Agent stops the dialoge long enough for the audience to absorb the film as an experience.

Station Agent does not try to pretend the story is about the one physically unusual tallent in the film. To me it shows everyone to be equally physically unusual and equally interesting. From the lawyer, the store owner, to the librarian, and the kids playing soccer or teasing the charater Finn. The people all appeared individually unusual.

The one exception was the Tavern sceen where a lot of people seemed to have the same shifty eyes toward Finn. That asside I think the costume and casting tried to prevent a repatition of fashion and mannerisum that does exist in a numbing sort of way to even a wary eye and mind.

My favorite American made film of 2003 and this decade.
