Subject: Cool movie

I liked the movie. I thought it was freaky and thought-provoking at the same time. I agree with the reviewer who said the entity of "Simon" actually seemed to be a demon possessing Mary, rather than just another of her personalities. Simon had a decidedly male voice unlike Mary's, and could actually be heard speaking in other characters' heads, implying an existence apart from Mary herself and which had survived her death.
When Mike first opened the box of evidence about Mary, the movie made it clear that he was releasing something evil -- presumably Simon. And at the end, when Gordon was looking at all the photos he had taped to the wall, it was just like how Mary had taped all of her photos and clippings to her wall.
One thing I haven't figured out is why at the very beginning, there is an upside-down shot of a chair in a large hallway. The camera then slowly rotates and the scene turns right-side up. I noticed that at the end, one of Gordon's photos taped to the wall is also upside-down. I'd have to watch the movie again to see if there were other references to reality being turned upside-down. Its an interesting theme.
Overall this is a good movie to watch on more than one level. You can watch it for the scare-factor alone, or you can analyze it for the clues and themes about madness and evil.
