I have to disagree...I thought it was pretty true to form as far as the musical theatre element was concerned. It introduced themes that were funnier if you were actually involved in musical theatre, things that needed no explanation if you really have that background. I LOVED this movie. I'm a very picky and blunt critic and I've worked both in community and professional theatre and the talent in this movie excites me!

I enjoyed the movie, only because I was laughing at the stupidity of the plot and characters. It was attempting to become so creative and deep that it forgot to actually develop any characters and any theme at all. I was thrilled to hear that someone was making a movie about musical theatre, but when I saw it I realized how poorly us muscial theatre buffs were portrayed. The only really positive thing was that there were two very talented singers and two good songs. I hope there won't be a sequal.
