    No, man, you've totally miscontrued what "chinese dissidents" was saying. He's not wallowing in "grandiose self-pity," as you so inaptly put it. Not at all. He's asking how those hypocrites at Amnesty International can have the gall to document and criticize human rights violations in China when they won't even try to stop the far more unspeakable atrocity of his being snubbed by waitresses right here in the so-called land of the free! That's a devastating argument. Now stop jousting with your artfully constructed straw man and answer it, Preb, if you can.

    Are you seriously claiming that being ignored in restaurants is comparable to being sentenced to twenty years' hard labor in the lao gai for criticizing the government? I guess by that standard I'm a regular Harry Wu, because I get ignored in restaurants, too.

    Wow. I've encountered some impressive examples of grandiose self-pity in my time, but that really takes the cake.
