Firstly, I would like to say that when I bought this movie a few weeks ago, I hadn't seen it. Based on the ensemble of actors in it, I knew I would like it from the getgo.
"Like it," aren't the words to describe this movie.
For an amateur director, Zach Braff is amazing, and this is a talent he should have explored before he got into acting. The cinematography of the movie is phoenomenal, and the little things in the movie that he adds in make you laugh along with the dark humour of the movie.
Casting Natalie Portman in the movie, I think, was his best move. Instead of playing subdued roles like she usually plays, it's good to see that she's extremely versatile and can go from crying over a lost pet, to joking around about her epilepsy in the film. Seeing her be loud and animated in a movie like this gives the film a brighter light.
Overall, I think the movie was incredible. The acting, cinematography and storyline of the movie cannot be described in words. I think if Zach Braff were to make another movie, possibly continuing the journey Large went through, would be good, but if he did another "self-realization" type movie, it would be great. I hope to see him continue his career in directing as well as acting in the future. I love this movie.
