I have to admit that in the beginning this movie wasn't too intereseting besides Moncho, whom I think is very cute. This movie soon caught my attention with funny scenes and a more indepth understanding of what took place before the Spanish Civil War. It was very helpful to see the how the lives of Republicans and Nationalists changed as time went by. Before the Nationalists took over, the Republicans lived more freely and was not afraid to stand up for their beliefs. But this soon changed and many Republicans feared for their lives and had to hide their true feelings. It is understandable that many Republicans such as Moncho's family, betrayed their friends, mentor, and even themselves inorder to stay alive. It was sad and upsetting to see Moncho being encouraged by his mother to shout and yell mean things at Don Gregorio, who have taught and showed him so many things. I think Moncho was pretty confused at the time but will eventually comprehend what had happened. This was a great movie. It had helped expand my understanding and gave me a closer look of how the lives of all had been affected.
