I really thought that this story could have made a great movie if it would have had more focus. Many times it feels choppy and segments of the story are thrown in without being developed, such as Claudia Schiffer's character that appears to be nothing more than an ornament, a hip addition to a film that desperately wants to be hip. Dennis Hopper's character of a shady figure in the Miami porn underworld turns out to be pretty much harmless until he magically turns into Frank Boothe from Blue Velvet in the final scene. The cinematography captures the essence of Miami well but Hopper's gang of video artists are so undeveloped and uninspiring that we rarely see anything exciting. Matthew Modine is good as Matty and is convincing, unfortunately his talents, like Hopper's, aren't coming out because of the fragmented story line. It kind of looks like Ferrara flew everyone down to Miami, shot everything in a week and then pieced it together. Overall, I enjoyed watching it because it had a few good moments that made it come alive.
