I loved the movie and referred many people to go see it. I'm a quality assurance engineer and the strange thing is that all my co-workers "engineers" that saw the movie got everything it said and then some. They were able to tie all the different thought patterns and link them togetehr. What is strange about this is my mom has been a therapist for many years and I don't think she got it, nor did many of my other friends that had careers outside the Tech industry. In fact, many of them said it was "HORSE SHIT."
As an engineer you have to look at all objects, routines, subroutines, as things and understand how they all interelate. An analogy I have is that life is like a database. You are born with a baby table, a mommy table and mommy and son have a 1 to 1 relationship. As baby grows older, it creates more relationships with mommy. One to one, many to one, and many to many. The more successful a person is generally is some one that as they grow older recognize many many tables "things" around them and choose to create many to many links with these things. The more many to many relationships you make with one thing, the more "psychic" you become with it. Example: I have a friend "not a techy in any way" that seems to know more about cars than anyone I have ever met. The one thing that has always scared him in life is these strange abilities to know when someone close to him will die in a car accident. When someone interconnects with something to the point that in their mind they know everything about that one "thing" is when psychicness begins to manifest. I'm only writing this in detail to you because you wanted to go to a movie that would tell you something in this mater and I tottaly agree it failed miserably in doing so. Maybe the intention in its creation was to design it in such a way that only certain people would get it. Honestly I don't know. One thing that quantum mechanics has shown in labs is that when a particle expereinces another particles presence and those particles are sent in opposite directions, then one of these particles is affected in some way, the other particle experiences this affect, which takes us down the rabbit whole of string theory and "The theory of everthing" scientist are madly tring to re-write known as "Standard Theory of Physics." You may want to look at all the tables you have in your life and how connected you are with them, these "things" and maybe go see the movie again or better yet read some books on Quatum Theories. You may get something out of it or move on and continue to experience your world the way you choose to. I am sorry that you had to sit through and pay for a movie that made you sick. Best wishes to you. Dave. :)

    Response to this comment:
    Re: What an oafish review

Wow, I loved this review. I hated this movie. Mr. Mazzarella: I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it except that it was supposed to be interesting, and it was supposed to deal with the untapped psychic powers of the human mind. I like interesting things. I too am willing to believe that the mind holds tremendous untapped psychic powers. I was psyched to see this film.

I then proceeded to sit through two hours of the most excruciatingly sloppy, boring, nonsensical new-age hooey that I have ever witnessed.

Bear in mind, this is coming from someone who came within a hair's breadth of voting for John Hagelin in 2000.

This film was, at the very least, poorly-constructed. The scenes with Marlee Matlin veered between being uninteresting and cliche-ridden to being downright offensive. As a narrative, it failed to hold my interest in any way.

But one might suggest that the narrative was really only there to explain the ideas proposed by the interviewees. So let's talk about the interviewees. Some of them seemed great: well-informed, well-spoken, and touching on a number of intriguing topics; quantum theory is neat! Neurochemistry is neat! But then the film would fail to make any logical link between its subjects, which only otherwise share the common bond of "being things that we can't see and are thus exotic ideas to us at our present stage of cultural development." What did neurochemistry have to do with quantum physics?

And just as many interviewees spoke about things that were flat-out scientifically unverifiable. For example, are we supposed to believe the words of "Ramtha," the ancient Atlantean spiritual entity? At what point did it become acceptable to place implicit trust in the spiritual teachings of a fat blonde woman who claims she has magic powers? Dude, this is how cults start, not genuine movements towards spiritual progression.

Mr. Mazzarella, you mentioned in your post that "it really is easy to criticize another's work or another's opinion." That's true. Sometimes it is. Particularly when the work is awful and misleading, and particularly when the opinion is wrong. This was often the case with this film.

"What the Bleep Do We Know?" made me angrier than I have ever been at a movie, with the possible exception of Bruce Almighty (another film that posited questions about the nature of God and the Universe, only to try to pass off facile, retrograde, culturally-harmful crap as a valid response).

Watching this film was like watching a thirteen-year-old beat off to a copy of The Celstine Prophecy.
