Reader comments on Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq War

    Subject: Re: Hummm...
    Date: Sep 26, 2004

Scott Ritter's comments are a bit misleading. Yes Iraq did have some CW and BW with short shelf lives, but in some cases binary agents were used, therefore eliminating the problem of shelf-life.

See: Link to read more in this CIA memo.

    Response to this comment:
    Hummm...

Valid comments, except one: if three USAF explosive ordinance disposal troops could be injured by disarming a 50+ year old mortar round filled with blister agent from WWII, how can you say the shelf-life of chemical weapons makes them ineffective?

The incident happened outside of Dover AFB, Maryland. (Chemical in WWI-era shell injures 3 Air Force EOD Techs investigating device found near Bridgeville
By JEFF MONTGOMERY and PATRICK JACKSON Staff reporters 07/24/2004) Photos of the Sgt who was most severly injured and flown to Philadelphia are floating around somewhere (filename: Dover EOD Blister agent.pdf). Not for those with a weak stomach.
