Subject: Joshua's view is not alone in his insight

When I first saw the movie a while ago, I watched it without bias or expectation, as I had read no reviews. Some minutes into the story, however, I instinctively developed a strong suspicion about the intentions of the plot. This was fully confirmed when the characters started to speak of "a greater cause" for unification. I suddenly became disgusted and disappointed at the main characters, the assassins, who I considered gutless and disgraceful. Many of you will no doubt disagree and attack people like Joshua and me for saying such (almost certainly if you happen to be raised in China), but you see, I was born in Taiwan, and I am naturally sensitive to this type of political propaganda, however abstract or subtle it may be to outsiders; China has been trying to seize and unify Taiwan for decades. As others have mentioned, the movie clearly attempts to establish, at least to me, moral justification for arbitrarily destroying foreign countries, by using a self-justified message of greater good. In reality, my home country for example is not in any trouble or pain by being left alone, and it simply has no need to be annexed into a totalitarian regime, just as few in Kuwait or Poland would desire to be part of the Iraqi or Nazi regime, respectively. Insult me as you will, but I'm certain anyone is able to come up with more examples of such dangerous ideology. Likewise, this film is dangerous, because it conveys its central message through beautiful visuals and music.
