The belief that "Hero" is well disguised Communist propaghanda is ludicris. This film was made in traditional Chinese style, and is based on traditional Chinese morality, namely support for one's empiror. In any case I doubt the Communist government would be too keen on comparing themselves to China's ancient feudal lords. And even if this film were propaghanda it is still a great movie. The "Battleship Potemkin" was shameless Soviet propaghanda, but it was also a great film.
