Reader comments on Better Luck Tomorrow

Subject: the critic doesnt kno wut he's talkin about

THe author of this review obviously does NOT know anything about real asian americans. I thought the characters in this movie depicted how so many of us asian americans feel, in that we're trapped in this parental cage to always be the best, get the best grades, get 1600 sat's, and go harvard or some other fancy school. All this makes us crack and sometimes sparks rebellion like the characters in the movie got into. All.. while keeping an outwardly "perfect asian child" appearance to our parents and all their friends so they can show us, and our achievements off. This is how asian americans are (maybe to the extremity) but the director definately understands what every asian american kid goes through and wut we feel like. Besides... I like this depiction of asians better than those smart, math team nerds, that are always at the head of the class. It's so stereotypical.

    Better Luck Tomorrow?

Say what you will about the story. Watch the movie again and ask yourself if the ending wasnt at lesat a bit disturbing. Yes? That was the goal. Along with achieving its goal this film also gives us something different.
