    Reader comments on Fahrenheit 9/11

Two comments on what you wrote:

    1. "What exactly did President Bush do? He simply waged war on a country that attacked ours--to me, that seems quite just."

This argument has completely fallen apart as the facts have emerged. Iraq has never attacked the U.S., it had no connection to Sept. 11, and it appears not even to have had the dangerous weapons that the Bush administration claimed it had proof of. No proof has emerged.

You could clearly make this argument about Afghanistan, where Bush's effort has been very modest, but not Iraq, where he went to war for some reason other than the one you mention.

    2. "'Welcome back, troops--we think you're murderers.' a nice welcome..."

Nobody actually wrote this. I'm not sure whom you're quoting. However, I think one very positive difference between this war and Vietnam is that nobody is blaming the troops themselves. There's still a lot of respect for American soldiers even among people who oppose the decision at the top. In fact, if you've seen the movie, you know that it shows great sympathy for the troops themselves and puts the onus on the Bush administration for sending them to their deaths or leaving them permanently disabled without a legitimate cause.

    Response to this comment:
    Re: Michael Moore review

"As to no president being perfect, in terms of President Bush that has got to be the biggest understatement ever written. President Bush is a terrorist. He and his entourage of maniacal psycho-killers exploit the fear and paranoia of ordinary people in order to take advantage of the situation."

Really, now? What exactly did President Bush do? He simply waged war on a country that attacked ours--to me, that seems quite just. I must say though, you're right--defending a country full of people like Michael Moore seems pretty foolish at times. Why won't you just get off your high horse and respect the fact that he is trying to defend our country?

Also, I don't like that Moore is so anti-war and he shows it to the people that are fighting for our country. if you don't like it, get out! Go to a country where you aren't protected by a powerful army!

"Welcome back, troops--we think you're murderers." a nice welcome...

Try telling someone who was in the WTC that this war is pointless--oh wait, you can't to most of them. Think about that...

Summed up: Don't forget the REAL 9/11.
