Subject: Man's Inhumanity

I found myself aching for this woman after watching the documentary. Here in Canada, we no longer have capital punishment. There is no evidence that capital punishment decreases capital offense crimes and our crime rate is much lower than that of the USA. Therefore, what purposed does it serve? I believe our criminal justice system can appropriately punish people who committ these offenses without taking their life, and I agree with Wanda Jeans Mother, that and Eye for an Eye is not the answer. How many people have been executed and later found to have been innocent with the materialization of DNA evidence?
I realize this was not the case with Wanda Jean, but I was appalled that the Clemency Board would not have looked more closely at the arguements and taken some time to decide what should be done after weighing ALL the evidence and not simply taking the word of those who wanted to see this woman put to death. After all, this was the fate of someones life they were considering? Should it have been so matter of fact? I thought we were a more civilized nation than this. I am not religous, but I do not belive that this is what God intended.

I agree, Two wrongs don't make a right. The courts did not lokk at her mental state...if they had, seem to me the question on the actual shotting should of raised some eyebrows...I mean she killed the woman outside of a police station now maybe it's me but that doesn't sound to (forgive my words) bright.
