Adam is man. Dan Hedaya is Lucifer. Camilla Rhodes is Christ - that's why Hedaya asks a hooker if she's seen Rhodes, a famous Hollywood actress. The long-haired guy in the rented office is also the son of God. So is the Cowboy - the raised skull and the light (I am the resurrection and the light). Ruth is God (Adam refers to her as his "mother" at the last supper - she is also the manager). Adam is man. Everything is a clue - Adam's house is the garden of eden - pink and blue are evil (jealousy).
EVERYTHING is a clue. "The girl is still missing" means Jesus missing from the tomb. The ashes next to Diane's phone - ashes to ashes. Ruth's "the Manager" sign. The picture in Adam's hotel room. The cross formed by the window slats upon which Diane reflects before a newly radiant Camilla "came back." Every word of every line. Adam's wife kicking her out of his house - "damn you, Adam." Her response to the mafia guy's assertion that it's Adam's house - "like hell it is."
In 2 1/2 hours the entire Christian theology - man, his choices, God, his choices, the consequences, the reality that physical life is the "dream world," the "movie," while the real world is the spiritual world, the real consequences are in the spiritual world - has been portrayed beautifully.
