Re: French Foreign movie
Hi, I'm from Melbourne, Australia.
It was such a shame that 'Amelie' didn't win an Academy Award for 'Best Foreign film', or for that matter, ANY award that night!
I adore the film. I only saw it twice in the cinema, but I managed to take all my friends and they all loved it, even the guys.
I had always hated the idea of subtitles, but because the film is so visually wonderful, it didn't make it a chore to read them.
I could go on forever about Amelie it is by far one of my top films of all time.
I now own the U.S. version of the DVD, better than the Australian version, and it's amazing to see the director's comments, hear the commentry and see all the behind the scenes.
I'm now at University and am choosing to write a critical film review on Amelie so I might research about french film in the past century because I know little about it.
