Reader comments on Schmelvis: Searching for the King's Jewish Roots

    Subject: Worthy of Woody Allen
    Date: Jan 3, 2004
    Sender: Jeffrey CoxPrevious | Next

The reviewer missed the point. The filmmakers obviously didn't really set out to make a movie about Elvis, they turned the lens on themselves to make fun of the earnestness of documentary fiilmmakers. They ended up making a post-modern classic which is as funny as the best Woody Allen films. In the process, they uncovered, perhaps accidentally, some amazing insights about the real Elvis Presley and Jewish identity.

Anybody who likes Seinfeld will love this film.
