Re: mulholland drive
I do agree it is a refreshing thought but I am not convinced.
What do we see the aunt do. Leave and come home. But every time we see her not seeing thing. She sees someone entering the apartment building, but sees no futher as it could be a danger. We see her forgetting the keys, even forgetting where she left them, even when it was the only thing left in a perfectly clean apartement.
When she return we again she her looking at the room but she does she what is happening.
This is al dreaming of Diana. It is blaming the Aunt for not seeing she could have a hard time in LA.
That is why she has this dream located at her aunts place. Betty enters as a figure that may have started naive but we see her learn quickly, about the world, about herselve.
But she blames it on the aunt that did not protect her en lead her into this world of viual betrayal, on the director that picked camilla above her. When she sees camilla at the party in her true colors, she breaks and start planning a detective movie murder. In the end, having recieved the key, she wished it were not true, sees there is no way back, gets haunted by regret and kills herselve.
The aunt is only a figure to put the blame on.
