    Subject: Hell House

In the review, Hells belles, the writer JOSHUA TANZER makes the following statement: "Without giving away what happens in this room, it is enough to leave a bad taste in your mouth about the whole enterprise." Having seen only the video I would guess that the "last room" Mr. Tanzer speaks of is where the genuine purpose of the "enterprise" occurs.

This church and countless other churches pull no punches nor do they hide their motivation; that being to make coverts to Christianity. It is within their theology that although the body dies physically, the spirit lives forever. They also believe that there are two, and only two destinations to which the eternal spirit goes, heaven or hell.

They are passionate Believers, not unlike the adherants connected to many other religions of the world the propagate what appear to be extreme beliefs. They teach that if you believe in Jesus Christ and live for him, you go to heaven and, if you do not, you go to hell. They are not attempting to say that some things are bad for you but rather they are destructive, not only to your body but to your soul. This they believe and practice enthusiastically.

Why then should it leave a "bad taste in your mouth" that there would be a confrontational aspect to their presentation? It is as if one goes through the entire event thinking they will allow you to draw your own conclusion. The admiration should not simply be that they are creative, talented and provocative but that this church, and in particular the youth of this church, are willing to stand up for what they believe; even if it make us angry.

The greatest accusation against these people would be that they water down their belief and faith and refuse to create an atmosphere in which individuals are given the opportunity to make a choice. The presentation to them is not merely about morals and values, although these are invaluable commodities. They beleive that there is a spiritual dynamic behind whay motivates every person. Morals and values that do not stem from a solid foundation, one that has absolutes as its anchor, evolves with every generation. What this grop is presenting comes from their committment to truth that is timeless, not philosphies that shift with human whim. They are to be admired for stating what they perceive to be truth and for confronting others with it. To believe someone has access to something that can benefit human kind and they do nothing with it, now, that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth!
