Reader comments on The Holy Land

I think that the thrust of movie could be summed up simply in one of its lines. I just can't figure out which line. Pehaps Mendy asking about different countries that Sasha has been to and if they are all as crazy as life in Israel. The film tried to portray the internal nad external conflicts of secular, modern, religious, "settler", Arab/Israeli, and in doing so it bit off much more than it could chew. Too little character and plot development. And, the worst beards, payos and sheitel I have seen in a long time.

    Response to this comment:
    A very good movie

I saw this movie last night and enjoyed it throughly. I agree that it is not as focused as my dream movie would be, but it represents real participation in a thoughtful conversation about being human in a trying world. The issue of stepping out from a dogmatic world into one filled with possibilities and uncertainties is worth the dedication of filmmakers and audiences.
