    Subject: Dangerous Propaganda

Not only is this movie a bad love story, it sends a very dangerous and irresponsible political message about Jewish settlers in the West Bank. The idea of a settler so determined to sabotage the peace process that he would blow up a bus that could potentially be carrying a relative or friend is not grounded in reality. Why would a settler need to arrange for a bomb to blow up to sabotage the peace process when there are organizations like Hamas and Fatah doing it every 5 days?? The movie is not gounded in contemporary political reality and it should be taken with a few hundred grains of salt.

For a Jewish settler to blow up a bus he may be killing people with whom he shares ideologies or even a last name. It is counterintuitive and irrational to blow up people who might potentially be on your side. An act of terrorism against civilians indicates a blatant disregard for the lives of the people who could potentially be affected. Thats why I could believe the story had the bomber selected Mikes Place on a friday night because anyone who is there would be breaking shabbat and therefore dialectically opposed to a religious right winger. But what the filmmaker is proposing is some kind of INTENTIONAL friendly fire which can only make sense if you liken the religious right wing to someone or someTHING so maniacal and reckless that they would potentially kill their own brother just to obstruct a political agenda they disagree with. This is the dangerous message the film is giving.

I dont mind films that bend reality but If they are trying to make a political statement, which this film obviously is, then that statement should be grounded by reality. The fact that Eitan decided to stretch the limits of reasonable thinking to make a political statement is an act of zealotry not so different from the zealots he is misrepresenting. Movies shape peoples minds and therefore should not make a group of human beings look like animals when they are not. This reminds me of the movies Hitler's propagandists made that compared Jews to rats. The Shoah was only made possible with these such films. And I am afraid of how many impressionable minds Holy (Bologna) Land has already affected.
