    Butterworth's review - don't read.

This is a great movie and is what movies should be like. I don't know what 'really' happened.

Some thoughts I've had since seeing - don't add up, but for your consideration.:

IF HAVEN"T SEEN, PLEASE STOP AND GO SEE; ALONE BEST.

First, author disavows her identity in train. Shame in being thought of as writer of type of fiction?

Author self-satisfies with sweets to replace lust?
    Indulges.
French Julie speaks English too well.
Publisher never speaks French on screen.
French Julie's lovers are ugly and don't treat her well. Why go with them? Gave up true love at 16 for reason of lover's inexperience and regrets.
The telephone call - publisher not there when author gets on phone.
The lamp - why take the bulb out?
French Julie's scar, car accident unlikely, did she kill her mom?; get hurt saving her?Why tearful panic that mother not returning...from where?
Julie lied about not reading Author's story even after confessing the murder and other.
Was author transcribing the journal? Typing not real.
Whose photo was in the journal?
Death of French Julie's mother an accident? Other rumors?
Every location is identified by name except the town of the villa.
Julie kills the hot waiter - reason - "for the story"? Confessing having read the story.
Julie hallucinates that the author is her mother - the author doesn't have children and is unmarried.
Before going to France author has already thought to write in a new direction - not Dullworth Wears a Kilt style. Gives her money, but not what she wants.
Publisher stands her up at villa. Won't rekindle affair.
Hot waiter doesn't want to have sex because he doesn't want to lose more ?stable / love, shame? relationship with older woman.
French Julie can't easily be true daughter if English Julie (real) is same age.
Author leaves message - pissed off about daughter being there, you didn't tell me...doesn't he respond later ? or no?
Whose beautiful dress does the author at first look at, smell and later wear? Not French Julie's.
The daughter's room is too bare - why mattress on floor and teddy bear?
I don't know about the death of the waiter - possible to drag body / but if real, why?

Can't figure it all, but great anyway.
