Again Spoilers, though I really wish someone would have warned me before I went to see this:
Thank you for saying this after all these gushing revues. Man that was painful. I couldn't belive that you can have such amazingly talented performers and songwriters and still make this movie painful to watch.
So to summarize the morals here
1. Gay teenagers will always get beat up and never find love.
2. Honest, talented, but not conventionally attractive straight girls have to settle for boys that will cheat on them.
3. Fat girls can't get good parts no matter how talented or hard-working they are. In fact, they just vanish from all performances with no explanation once informed of this.
4. Despite all of this, all the destitute archetypes will all be okay with the gorgeous, straight guy in the end, since he's knows that he's an asshole.
What gives?

Some great musical numbers but so sadly fumbled as once again the gay guys get Will Truman-ed and the hetero boy gets all the love. Even in the land of Sondheim and musical theater all eyes are on the straight guy. A wasted opportunity in the middle of a ambitious and entertaining movie.
