Reader comments on The Cremaster Cycle

    Subject: Like Lynch on Heroin
    Date: Aug 12, 2003
    Sender: VanPrevious | Next

Barney needs to reel-in his undifferntiated balls and cut down on the crystal meth. Hey, it's obvious the Cycle was fueled by a three day coke binge with some wealthy Manhattanite with more money than sense, but dude, grab your 'sac' and construct a narrative. Avante garde is nice, but it's time for ol' Matthew to, like his gonads, mature, drop, make at least some sense to those who haven't referenced ancient masonic rites or the history of Houdini lately. He shows potential, but needs to move beyond adrogynous sac faries if he's going to play with the filmic big boys. Lost Highway was nice, but it's no Mulholland Dr. which just goes to show you that sometimes, less is more. But, maybe I'm wrong. Cheers.

I must say, I couldn't agree with you more. Having never been to New York before, I found the whole experience at this Guggenheim exhibit rather 'stunning'. It was nothing like I ever expected. I cannot sort out my feelings of awe, confusion, repulsion, revulsion, disgust...and what??!! But - here I am, weeks later still thinking about it! Is that what Art is all about?
