My friend and I have come to the conclusion after watching this movie, that most of the first half(after the car accident) is a dream. Reeta tells Betty that she thought she'd remember it all after she slept. The blue box in the theatre is her memory, and when she unlocks it Betty disappears and becomes Diane, this is because Betty was never really there, but only her imagination and memory slowly returning in her mind. As for the cowboy, I can't really figure that out, and the beginning w/ the two men ties in w/ Diane putting a hit on Carmilla, and also when Betty sees the director (Carmilla's boyfriend) after her audition it has something to do w/ the hit put on Carmilla. Just our thoughts put together.

mulholland drive
Very weird, intense, thought provoking film.Every relationship you try to make between the characters falls apart, it is fantastic film that arise conversation themes between your friends for days, go and see it!
I wish someone could give me some explanations.
