ok, I just read the only comment that actually make sence. The one from Virginia. I read some meaningless things like the aunt is the same camilla which is the same betty and of course not. what is that, are you guys trying to figure things out? do you really expect the movie to tell you a story? I think that is what people expects from movies right now, to see a story, because that is what "filmakers" think that a movie is all about, to tell a story, well, let me tell you something, movies are not only a story tellers, c'mon people, start thinking outside the box, dont you get it? picasso didn't make sense at his time, and he wasn't supposed to, he inspire people and meke them feel, that is what art do, expresses a feeling, and you share that feeling by having feelings of your own,and that is it, Mulholland drive made you feel what other movies make you feel, the only difference is that there is no story on it. Is like a dream, no end and no beggining.

And how many times did you have to watch it to come up with that convenient little formula? We don«t need to know what is happening in the film to gather and understand the overall meaning. Who cares who the characters are and what they do, whether they are alive or dead, real or imagined, whether we are seeing real time or flashbacks or dreams or whatever? We are seeing what happens to dreams in L.A. The become corrupted and decayed by all that surrounds them. Innocent dreams become rotten and the reality becomes one of decay and confusion. There is nothing to understand in the movie, the movie is the message. How do you feel watching the movie? Disturbed. That«s the message.
