I agree mostly with this assessment. The movie was lopsided in its approach. It could have contrasted the this extreme of gay men who („have toš) get tweaked out of their heads to have a good time with those that can appreciate dancing and going out not high as a kite and still holding on to some sort of values system. The character that John luckily ends up with is one such example. Why could the movie not have shown that many guys enjoy clubbing and feeling good- and having a boyfriend- without having to abuse substances all the time in such a way that ultimately lead to self-ruin? I must ask, however, how much one can expect from a movie in the first place that only has as its premise the (superficial and empty) circuit party life.

I am glad that I saw this film. I thought the juxtaposition of the „filmmakerš character making a documentary about the destructiveness of the circuit scene and the actual movie being about this subject was an innovative one. I also enjoyed Nina‚s character and voice of reason in an otherwise bane, meaningless existence. Despite being filled with gorgeous, types, the circuit world is certainly not a pretty one- indeed for many it is an alluring, dead-end trap. The character of Hector hauntingly drives home. However, I want to reiterate that while this is clearly a part of the gay community and perhaps everyone goes through a őwild time‚ at some period in their lives, it does not have to be this way. I live in NY and do enjoy occasionally the dancing and energy of the circuit scene without going overboard. Here I fault the film for not depicting a more nuanced view.

I thought that this was a good movie, but could have been better. It seems that all gay movies place a "label" on gay men, as being nothing but over sexed drug addicts. This movie should have shown more of the effects of drug abuse, and more of the gay men that are not shown in movies today. There are gay men out there who are in stable relationships who don't need drugs to have a good time. We are not all out there to get druged out of our minds, and have sex with any and everyone.
