At the end, Betty/Diane takes the hat box out from the top closet shelf for the money to have Rita/Camille killed. Yet, in a scene early in the movie you see the hat box on the dresser. This shows a dramatic change in the scene timing because now you know that Betty/Diane has already hired the hit man.
At the end, Betty/Diane is scared by the friendly, elderly couple she met on the plane. This shows how your goals and dreams can start out happily and then come back to haunt you.
When Betty/Diane is rehearsing with Rita/Camilla, there is a very interesting line: ćThis will be the end of everything. I hate you. I hate us both. Iāll kill us both and then we will cry, cry, cry.ä Then in the performance at the theatre Betty/Diane starts to shake when the words Cry, Cry, Cry are sung. Betty/Diane has just had Rita/Camille killed and then killed herself.
At Betty/Dianeās Auntās house there is a knock on the door. Itās Louise Bonner saying that something is wrong. She looks through the door and there is no one on the leather sofa. When Betty/Diane turns back to the room after Louise leaves, Rita/Camille is sitting on the leather sofa. This shows that Rita/Camille is not really there with Betty/Diane.

what is real, fantasy & interpretted reality
Have read many of the interpretations, all are intriguing. One thing I find intriguing about this idea, the woman who kills herself seems far to lowly to be associated with the likes of the Hollywood Stars. Thats what I like about this one, I still have a problem though. Mainly the traded appartment "fantasy" scene with Betty, I believe all scenes with Betty are some type of fantasy scene, but why in this one does she dream or fantasize they traded appartments if reality had been they were once together and now the other woman has left.
One thing that I think should be appartent is that we try and establish what seens are
A. real,
B. an interpretaion of reality but not really so, some tomes better sometimes worse
C. what scenes are complete fantasy,
The only thing I can say for sure are scenes with Betty are complete Fantasy and the scene of the suicide is reality. The rest I still need to discover.
