Forget all the analogies people...i know i did !
After the (*ssssss* !!!hott!!!) lesbian kiss (WOW)my mind was reeling cos all the blood went due south and i'm still left with the scrumptuous vision of Laura Harring's bodacious body (pity i had the DVD wherein they censored her lower half, but the boobs did enuff !)So forget all the "inner meanings" and lets all just remember the bedroom scene ! That reminds me....anybody got that captured ?

A follow up comment.
I think the Rita charactor was very appealing in the first part of the film and therefore difficult to let go as an illussion.
The annts apartment was never so exciting as it had been hoped to be by Diane. Returning as Betty hosting her now innocent lover she helps Lynch fool the audience until Betty and Rita vanish.
We are left with an emptyness that must be only a fraction of that which a life might feel if it takes itself out of existence.
