Bob-
Your interpretation of the movie is true genious!!! I just watched the movie for the 5th time with my buddy and he and I both think you have got the thing totally pegged! I mean, I can't believe we never saw Adam, the director in the same biblical light you do..sheer genious! I realize Lynch is heavy into eastern philosophy and how better a way to express some of his beliefs but on film. I have a friend who works for the LA Times who is looking for someone who can review some of the trickier movies he comes across and I think you might be someone who could definitely help him out..its a stricly e-mail thing, very easy etc.. Anyhow, thanks for helping me crack this brainbuster, you are a truly enlightened human being. Please keep in touch if you have anymore insight.

Re: the scary bum IS the key...
What a great idea... a film that says if we really want to see(know) whats going on, stop watching! It and the big picture (the film we create daily) are only illusions designed to distract, just smoke & mirrors.
Have you considered MH as a version of the story ofcreation and fall from grace ? All of the elements and characters are there... Adam, Eve (combo of Camilla & Betty), the Cowboy, the God Awful man. The character jump between the Garden & Earth in relation to their choices and & the push of Higher powers.
God had trouble with the concept of the female element of creation & learned that Eve had to be more than just the opposite/mate to Adam. C & B were different ends of the same being (night, dream, destruction blending with day, action, creation). All of existence was created from the void and I think God was caught by suprise when the need for balance made itself know. If God was Good, there was the necessity of Evil...Scary Bum. Order had to be matched by Random unseen events...limo crashes, throwing all the plans off for a while.
There are many other Jewish mystic (Kabbalah) and Christian Gnostic themes running thru the film and are very similar to the Hindu ones, but it would take to long to detail.
What do you think?
