The beginning of the movie shows a red pillow and you hear breathing. That is Diane dying from a gunshot wound to the head. Then it starts with the driving down mulholland dr , which in Dianes mind was her adventure into dream land which is LA. The limo stops and someone pulls out a gun and then you hear two cars screaming towards them and a demonic sound just like the two old people at the end and then crashhh... that is the gunshot going off and then comes the final dream before she dies. She lives the whole story over with different characters , the director is actually her who was cheated on by the brunette and is humiliated. there is alot more but the part when she actually slips out of her dream and dies is when they are watching the play and the spanish version of crying comes on and then you hear silencio, and she goes back and opens the box and that is her finally dead. then it goes to the beginnig and shows you who everyone was really in the dream.. sorry if I left stuff out or confused you.. I recommend watch the movie a couple times and pay attention to the beginning and little clues that lynch left behind.

Ric I went a second time with a co-worker a few weeks ago to enjoy the scenes and test the continuity against my collective thoughts of the film.
I found the scenes at Silencio to be more important the second time I saw the film.
(Like the Spanish film Open Your Eyes I think Mulholland Drive takes a few veiwings. Especially by most of those who like it.)
It is also where the blue box shows up .
Moral to the story? Don't leave a heap of cash to your niece if she's going to head for LA to be a star.
