I was cut off right in the middle of my review and sorry it's so long but I tend to rant.
Now back to the friends sleeping with the same guy. I think they both did what most of us would do at that age. Now in would have a lot to say to that other person unless I felt it was a better fit especially in gay and straight stuff or the talk of can we share this person would have came up immediately if they wanted both equally. If either friend had taken advantage of a situation then it would be war. Ok, back to the movie. They didn't use Blanche enough here. Ben and Alexa are best friends so on the surface are gonna be cool about it since nether are in a real relationship with Johnny he is just a toy (Ben does seem to have some possible real feelings for him but may be just that first time thing with the you have fantasied about many times) Anyway they are not gonna show a lot of emotion around each other because they need each other and that could lead to a major crack in their love for one another. Some scenes of then alone really thinking outlook about it would have helped and we could have felt that tension more when they interacted. Blanche could have been a good person to vent too as well with the same results. Johnny played it good and his feelings or confused and somewhat denied feelings on some things came out well in the therapy session. I loved he always wanted to include Ben when Alexa tried to get him alone. It shows his commitment to both as a friend and maybe more. I was so happy he was the one who finally gave the solution most of us knew was the best solution since Ben and Alexa couldn't be just his friend and needed the sexual part too. Johnny could have just been friends with both with that great benefit on the side of solo with each or threesome and just hang out. He was a messed up kid that need love and attention and almost got what he wanted most but tragically it went wrong because two friends could not keep it real and do for their mutual friend what they did for each other for all those years but added a little sex in the mix. Should not have been a big deal if they truly cared about Johnny.
The ending yes I was confused and not happy. They needed to wrap it all up or done a sequel fast. Maybe the guy that Alexa was talking to was Johnnies new boy toy? Doubt it. I think Johnny found himself in theatre and has some friends with benefits both male and female. I think he prefers the guys myself but when we saw him with Ben he was still scared and wanted to deny his feelings but he still enjoys a good romp with the ladies or a impromptu threesome when he can get lucky. We know Ben and Alexa's goings on with the little talk at the end and that was uneventful to me.
Better ending would have been Johnny, Ben and Alexa happy in New York and it's the weekend they are chilling watching a movie together cuddling and in walks Blanche from work and plops down in the middle of all of them. The camera pans too a wall full of pictures of them all giving us a quick history of their lives since we last saw them.
