"Real Women Have Curves" is a quintessential women in film theme describing magic realism. Magic realism describes the development of realty with "reverie and debauchery." In the beginning of the movie Ana 's family celebrates Ana's birthday from High school as if it is a hallmark event that will set Ana up in life to experience reality with a postmodern take on life. This motif is used with many Latin American authors as a major literary technique. Magic realism in "Real Women Have Curves" is in fact the theme that develops as Ana works in a sweat-shop making dress's. Ana get excepted into Columbia University, New York with a full scholarship. In the end we witness Ana strolling down Main Street New York as if she is celebrating a second birthday. The realistic details is developing this motif as Ana hides reality in the door ways of her father home while she is confronting the social ill her mother, Carmen, poses. "Seemingly amalgamated with the mystery" of down town New York the a fantastic stage set Ana is set free but her family seems to be right at her side with a bond that can not be broken. The movie growth from a play to film develops the magical appearance as well. The overwhelming reality is a "bizarre events" that offsets the family economic status and separation lend to a life long role with education and why not our Nation leading education institution Columbia University, New York to forge a part of ordinary life out of all this.
Sincerely
