Reader comments on Two Men Went to War

    Subject: Theis criticism
    Date: Sep 11, 2010
    Sender: Denis DownesPrevious | Next

I suspect Mr Theis is an American and his churlish criticism is geared to the "Hotcha! I'm smart" comedy so dearly loved of Americans. The story is farcical, and undoubtedly coloured to enhance the humour. It should be appreciated on the same terms as Tatti comedy, but it is based on truth. This engenders respect for two unlikely heroes who were not prepared to just sit around behind the lines.
