The Man's suicide didn't happen? Whose body was that on the rail tracks in the final frames? Yes, to langorous butthis almost acceptable for our understanding of life in the valley - where we saw existence worn to stubble. The horse sex scene was appropriate, framed the scene of Ascen and The Man copulatingg - in his attempts to sense, touch life in its most viscceral form before he cancelled it.

    Re: A Dissenting Opinion

I agree with you. Up until I saw this movie I honestly considered myself completely open minded. I have seen my share of "odd" and tough to watch alternative movies. I rarely see Hollywood movies. Yet, this film left me with a profound void. I could almost say I felt... cheated.

It's incredibly sluggish rhythm, main character (The Man), the movie-documentary-quasi-combo deal and several scenes managed to disturb my peace of mind (as I considered them completely unnecessary) and actually put me in a bizzare mood. I fell asleep twice, woke up, tried to watch it, but again, continued with that bitter feeling inside.

Perhaps I am naive or not as "alternative" or open-minded as I thought I was!, but I believe this movie is pretentious and unfocused. Ascen is adorable but again her motives, The Man's motives... those strange scenes.... Mmmhm.

Perhaps this is real life, perhaps the movie is full of good intentions yet the only thing I could rescue from it are some shots/scenes of Ascen. She did catch my attention. Definitely steals the show. The canyon is beautiful, breath-taking and so I thought- what a waste! The one thing I was looking forward to didn't happen: The Man's suicide. Still, for some odd reason, I can't say that I regret watching it. At least I did that.

Sorry to disappoint those of you who loved it!
