I liked the movie and found the characters intriguing. i liked the films plot and the various ways it seems to have other deeper messages when played again. We have done that, played it many times to catch its various details that the Director/scene writer have cleverly embedded. Even the first scenes have the actors embedded in different roles. I also enjoyed the music. Yes, very nice.I liked the contrast of war with these little things like begging, making the immigrant life work etc. The switching between black and white and color for Eli's over inquisitive camera. I also caught the notion that when a bomb could take it all, two people who seemed not able to connect could find love and then at some point no longer need the bomb attacks to make it deeper. The conclusion was unexpected for me. It did give me a different view of being an immigrant.

This is a great movie, I enjoyed it a lot. I agree with Leon, it is very truthful. It may be hard to comprehend for non-Russian-Jewish folks, as they do not have similar life experiences. Try to see beyond the "superficial" and appreciate the director's amazing ability to capture how multifaceted and full of surprises life really is.
