I'm not convinced Camilla is dead. Not that it matters in the scheme of things, but the cop at the "accident" scene believes a body is missing. So, if she's dead, where's the body? I think it's far more likely this idiot hit man bungled the job (think of the three bodies in the other scene) but wanted his client to believe it was finished as promised.

Yes, the presence of the key signifies that the hit has gone through successfully, so Camilla is dead. It doesn't really matter what it opens, it's just a symbol. Diane is staring at the key intensely when she snaps and decides to shoot herself, so staring at the key represents Diane wallowing in the realisation of what she has done.
And as for the box... well, it may not necessarily mean anything either. I did notice that there is a blue box in the bedside table that Diane pulls the gun out of. Maybe it's incorporated into her dream because it's the last thing she sees.
